Zwanenmeer (Swan Lake)

Photography: Ben van Duin

Mix the ballet of Swan Lake with the fairytale The Wild Swans, add an appropriate dose of Cinderella, and you have a nice libretto for a youth opera!

The king is looking for a special woman to marry. But what makes someone special? What should you be able to do? When the king gives a ball that night, Elize and Azalea draw straws to determine who is allowed to go to the ball. Elize wins and promises to be home before midnight. When she comes home, she finds Azalea, who claims that an angry witch has transformed the sisters into Swans. Elize desperately goes out looking for her sisters…
